After calling it off twice already due to rain, today the sun put his hat on and stayed out long enough for us to shoot our spring summer 2010 collection. In a grassy meadow we put up windbreak and threw out the blanket and enjoyed the views and the relaxing sound of clicking crickets. Here are a few snippets of our lovely day but im afraid the rest will have to wait until early next year . However not to worry as from next week the new autumn winter collection will go into the online shop. Happy shopping.

A walk in the park last weekend brought some fantastic inspiration for colour. I love collecting pictures into groups or themes as it draws out colours you might otherwise overlook. Look at these fantastic tones that are so perfectly suited to a sumptuous autumn winter theme.

I know it’s not just me, everyone can be partial to a sweet treat. I can’t help but wander however if my enthusiasm for these little wonders is verging on an obsession! It’s the array of colours, flavours and toppings that make them so exciting. Banana, coffee and vanilla and the more exotic flavours of pomegranite and mango. Finish these off with a complimentry frosting in a different flavour or colour, add some sparkles or sprinkles and you have an edible delight that already looks gift wrapped! They are a fantastic for birthdays, weddings, pick me ups and as a friendly reminder to that someone special that you really care. Also a fantastic way to let your child experiment with colour by letting them decorate their own cakes. These little cuties are from the wonderful Treacle on Columbia Road, London. the shop has a lovely aesthetic and so do their cakes. If you are in the area its work a trip!

With these startlingly hot temperatures and balmy evenings what better time than now to invest in this pretty outfit. The seersucker bubble banded shorts are a fantastic staple item for the summer holidays and come in a chocolate or straw, they have plenty of gathers that give them a fantastic silhouette and with stylish rounded pockets and elasticated waistband they are practical too. Team these with the fantastic pinwheel print gathered top for a truly adorable look. The top is available in two colours, forget-me-not and marigold and both have white cotton ric-rac trim, pleanty of gathers and adjustable straps that allow for growth. If you are off to a summer picnic or visiting family this little outfit will look the part teamed with sandals and a smile!
Both items are available from our online shop and with up to 50% off there is even more reason to smile! www.hucklebones.co.uk/shop.

Another show, another collection. Time is really flying by these days! It was great to catch up with everyone again at Bubble which this time was held in the impressive business design centre, Angel. The high glass ceiling cast a fantastic natural light over all the exhibitors and everyone was in high spirits. Positioned within the ‘Village green’ a section containing the fantastically creative british brands such as Mini Moderns, Poppy & Ned, Ella & Otto & Poppy. We had a really great time and the collection was very well received. Thank you to all who visited.

The last few weeks have whizzed by here at Hucklebones HQ, with preparations for Bubble London and final tweaks to the S/S 2010 collection. One thing we always like to do before bubble is to collect a few interesting vintage items that we will use on our stand at Bubble. We knew what we wanted, a sweet little 40′s or 50′s suitcase that would tie into our theme of those classic British holidays where the car is loaded up with luggage and off you all go, the adventure being in the journey rather than the destination. I cannot tell you how thrilled I was when I stumbled across this gorgeous little treasure in my local antiques shop. The grey and brown patterned outside is set off with the lovely brown enamel handle, even the clasps work! It was perfect.

This weekend was the second edition of the Kids.Modern show in Dulwich here in London. Again a fabulous array of creatives were on show to the public and we were proud to be a part of it after visiting the first show 12 months ago. Mixing it with the likes of Mini Moderns, Cloud Cuckoo Designs and Clothkits really gives us the chance to catch up and share any inside news, and generally complain about the weather as us English always seem to.
Kids.Modern aim was to inspire people to imagine pieces already in their homes with room style settings. Furniture and collectables downstairs in the arresting 60’s hall with its impressive floor to ceiling glass and concrete wall and view of the green playing fields beyond. Designers like us ran along the upper gallery with more design, fashion and accessories housed in the Mezzanine overlooking the hall.
