Last weekend’s adventures took nature-loving Agnes & Monty to the wonderful Jimmy’s Farm!
Situated in a quiet wooded valley close to Ipswich, the farm is famous for it’s Essex Pigs, the only breed of wild animal that has been brought back from extinction. There is a great variety of farm animals to feed and pet, Guinea Pig Village, a Butterfly house, den building in the woods, a fabulous restaurant – Sunday lunch was a delicious roast pork and crackling – sorry piggies! – followed by “Pigsty Pudding” and “Mud Pie”, and the surrounding grounds have an excellent Kitchen Garden and Veg Plot.
We spent hours at Jimmy’s Farm, it’s a wonderful place to get ‘closer to nature’ for the children, has a great relaxed vibe and with fabulous deli and butchers the parents also get a chance for a little food retail therapy. Our favourite part was wandering through the enchanting Woodland Walk to discover a clearing for Den Building – we told stories, played hide and seek and enjoyed the peace and quiet.
In September (9th-11th) they are running Harvest, a food & music festival – http://harvestatjimmys.com/family/ – the line up for foodies, gardeners, parents and children alike looks unmissable. Get your best festival gear and wellies at the ready…We thoroughly recommend a visit.
Guest blogger Emma has two children, Agnes & Monty and lives in Leigh-on-Sea, Essex. Her favorite activities include: All the wholesome stuff: knitting, going to the allotment, cooking, photography, hunting for great things for the home and also an unhealthy amount of time spent browsing the internet, reading blogs, researching and shopping.

Pretty as a picture and looking very summery, Agnes wears the Hucklebones sunshine yellow dress whilst shopping with her mummy Emma at the WI vintage jumble sale. Pictured here with her lucky find, a 1960′s pushchair made with wonderful spot printed fabric. Originally a 5th birthday present for its previous owner this sweet little pushchair has won its way into Agnes’ heart.

Hucklebones is proud to be a sponsor at the 3rd edition of the Godolphin Charity Fashion Extravaganza later this month where selected styles from the Hucklebones range will be part of the fashion extravaganza. The theme for the show at the prestigious girl’s school that was founded in 1726 is loosely based on the entwining of fashion and etiquette with a pinch of pre/post war glamour. The accompanying music will be performed by various Godolphin girls, a notable old Godolphin, and Wiltshire Jazz singer Sandy Ince and is in aid of brilliant causes, Never-give-up and NSPCC Child’s Voice Appeal.
Godolphin is one of the oldest girls’ schools in the country, and its relevant and responsive curriculum has consistently fostered excellence in the realm of women’s education. The school is set in very attractive grounds within easy walking distance of Salisbury’s historic centre.
