A perfect early Sunday morning outing for us as a family is Columbia Road Flower Market, followed by the V&A Museum of Childhood. Columbia Road market runs every Sunday of the year. There are fantastic shops surrounding the market such as Elphicks for original prints, Treacle for gorgeous cupcakes and vintage inspired homewares, Jones Dairy for bread and jam and a good rummage around the vintage stall and of course amazing plants and flowers. The atmosphere is busy with lots of hustle and bustle, young families, friends looking for beautiful blooms, young hipsters and plenty of market calls from the sellers on the stalls. Take at least a big reusable shopping bag for your finds, we always leave wishing we had a huge van we could fill with vintage treasures and exotic plants for the garden.
A twenty minute walk from Columbia Road, the V&A Museum of Childhood is an oasis of fun and interest. Puppet shows, craft workshops, interesting installations and a diverse collection of toys, clothing and images from 1600 to the present day. Entrance is free and with workshops and storytelling at the weekends, you can spend a good few hours there. Expect your children to ask to return, regularly!
We often find it difficult to get a balanced family day out with interests for all of us but this is definitely a winner for us.
We hope you enjoy it as much as us.

With the arrival of the AW11 collection came our debut capsule baby range for girls aged 3 – 18 months. Designed with the Hucklebones ethos at heart, each piece from this select range shares the fun, delicate detailing and colour as celebrated in the mainline collection. Taking key elements and styles like the embroidered plum dress which is a perfect teamed with the lovely lambs wool hat. Or for stylish comfort try the One-Piece in tea rose with its gorgeous collar detail teamed with matching trousers and bib all accented with the beautiful seasonal ‘Jenny Wren’ silk print.

Perhaps the most well know Hindu festival is fast approaching. Diwali a celebration of the importance of good over evil – the ‘festival of lights’ will be celebrated this year from the 26th of this month. These celebrations really became obvious to Zoe and I when we first came to London nearly 9 years ago – the skies would light in little pockets for the days of the festival with fireworks – a beautiful way to add a bit of sparkle to those dark and cold winter nights.
Traditionally Diwali calls for the lighting of small clay lamps that signifies the triumph of good over evil and movement from darkness into light. For all those celebrating its a chance to get together with loved ones and take part in activities together in their homes.
We wish all those celebrating a very happy दीपावली

Summer 2011 was officially the coolest summer since 1993 but despite the cool climate our little family had the BEST Summer yet. I hope you did too…
Much assisting this happy summer was the quest for fish and crabs in rock pools, cream teas, sand castles and paddling in the sea down in beautiful St Agnes in Cornwall. Freedom and fresh air are all children need on holiday . It’s amazing the simplicity of happiness we have when away from all our ‘stuff’.
Agnes & Monty spent most of their time in wetsuits with a fishing net, eyes down for whatever treasures they could find in the rock pools – the biggest find being a beautiful starfish. Wow! They went to bed with sand in their hair and woke up to the cockerel crowing, they were barefoot whenever possible. No schedule, no pressure, just fun and exploringto do.
Back to school is looming. Time for shoes and socks and school uniform and before long we’ll be in warm winter coats, knits and tights. Autumn is always an exciting time of year, I love the changing of this season the most but these summer images are happy reminder of good times, bare feet and that sunny yellow dress. It was our wardrobe staple for the summer… now which Hucklebones pieces are going to take us through winter? They are all stunning, just you wait and see!!
Goodbye summer…see you again soon.

Amid the fears reaching across the capital and country this week we were really pleased to have some light refreshment this morning in the form of the newest edition of the Little Fashion Gallery Book. Volume 7 of the much anticipated and beautifully presented book is a great place to start when looking for key trends, colours and shapes for the upcoming season. Notoriously influential and recognised for their directional and fashion forward approach Little Fashion Gallery bring together the best of children’s fashion, toys, games and products just in time for us to check out the upcoming seasons must haves. Great news too, items from the Hucklebones A/W 11 collection have been picked out and included in this seasons trend forecasts.
The ‘jenny wren’ print – ruffle empire silk dress gets a feature (top right) amongst striking emerald green items (a key colour this season) and neutral stone and ochre.
Plus one of our favourite outfits of the season the ink ponti roma jacket and tailored shorts (styled here with the Hucklebones graphic T-shirt) look absolutely fantastic. Secretly named in house as the ‘Jackie O’ jacket due to its definitive cut, graphic balance and wide set collar reminiscent of the iconic First Lady. Combined with the tailored shorts make this a striking and quirky little outfit.
What the team at LFG are great at is keeping everything looking fresh and exciting. Looking at things with a different angle and presenting to us in a creative and imaginative way. It makes flicking through the pages a real treat! We have listed a few of our favourite examples below.
