Rest and relaxation

December 26th, 2009

Here’s hoping you have had a very merry Christmas with plenty of rest, relaxation and time spent with loved ones. Thank you to those of you who have supported Hucklebones over the last year, it has been fabulous and your enthusiasm for the brand has been wonderful. We are very exited about the coming year starting with the fantastic spring summer collection which will arrive in stores in early Feburary. However for now we are going to make the most of the Christmas gatherings and enjoying a well earned rest.

Best wishes to you all for a very happy new year. Thank you x

Junior Magazine – November 2009

October 5th, 2009

We managed to pick up a copy of Junior magazine yesterday and were thrilled to see that our ‘Daisy Collar Blouse’ in Orange Sherbet had made it into the fashion pages. With thanks to Kate Van Der Hage who styled the shoot beautifully with fun props and bright jewel tones. Photographed by Sheila Rock in Andrew Logan’s art studio,¬†plaids, glass-look laminates and lurex knits are pulled together into an eclectic, fun and downright funky style. Our blouse was outfitted with a shiny PVC raincoat by Burberry, gold cardigan from Simple Kids and quilted skirt from Simonetta. The look was completed with a bright yellow and black brooch by Andrew Logan.

Hucklebones at Little Fashion Gallery

September 27th, 2009

We were really excited to see the Hucklebones frill placket dress featured in Clara’s style report for LFG last week! Along side fantastic labels such as ‘Little Marc Jacobs‘, ‘Maan‘, ‘Le Tour de Force‘ and ‘Petite Maloles‘ Clara combined great style ideas with the fantastic 1st outfit from ‘Luella’s’ show at London Fashion Week, which we had been swooning over ever since we saw the images from the show.

Sweet treats for all

September 12th, 2009

Something we have been enjoying over the summer, a sweet and deliciously delight that can be enjoyed by both children and adults alike. Pear tatin is a delicious way to enjoy the seasons harvest.

The most surprising thing about this recipe is how simple it it. Simply melt 100g of caster sugar and 100g of butter in an oven proof pan until it caramelizes into a rich toffee colour. Add a large cinnamon stick to the pan along with 8 pears that have been peeled, cored and halved. Cook for 10 minutes turning every now and then, then allow to cool in the pan. Turn all pear halves so that the flat side faces upwards, this is so you will have the pretty curved side showing once you turn it over. Using ready rolled all butter puff pastry cut to a circle slightly larger than the pan, lay over the top of the pears and tuck the sides into the edge of the pan pricking the pastry a few times. Then pop the whole thing in a preheated oven at 190C for 30 minutes until the pastry is golden. Leave to cool slightly for 10 minutes before turning out onto a plate. Serve with vanilla ice cream. Enjoy!

Hazy Days

July 25th, 2009

After calling it off twice already due to rain, today the sun put his hat on and stayed out long enough for us to shoot our spring summer 2010 collection. In a grassy meadow we put up windbreak and threw out the blanket and enjoyed the views and the relaxing sound of clicking crickets. Here are a few snippets of our lovely day but im afraid the rest will have to wait until early next year . However not to worry as from next week the new autumn winter collection will go into the online shop. Happy shopping.

Colour is everywhere!

July 15th, 2009

A walk in the park last weekend brought some fantastic inspiration for colour. I love collecting pictures into groups or themes as it draws out colours you might otherwise overlook. Look at these fantastic tones that are so perfectly suited to a sumptuous autumn winter theme.

I know it’s not just me, everyone can be partial to a sweet treat. I can’t help but wander however if my enthusiasm for these little wonders is verging on an obsession! It’s the array of colours, flavours and toppings that make them so exciting. Banana, coffee and vanilla and the more exotic flavours of pomegranite and mango. Finish these off with a complimentry frosting in a different flavour or colour, add some sparkles or sprinkles and you have an edible delight that already looks gift wrapped! They are a fantastic for birthdays, weddings, pick me ups and as a friendly reminder to that someone special that you really care. Also a fantastic way to let your child experiment with colour by letting them decorate their own cakes. These little cuties are from the wonderful Treacle on Columbia Road, London. the shop has a lovely aesthetic and so do their cakes. If you are in the area its work a trip!

High Summer

July 1st, 2009

With these startlingly hot temperatures and balmy evenings what better time than now to invest in this pretty outfit. The seersucker bubble banded shorts are a fantastic staple item for the summer holidays and come in a chocolate or straw, they have plenty of gathers that give them a fantastic silhouette and with stylish rounded pockets and elasticated waistband they are practical too. Team these with the fantastic pinwheel print gathered top for a truly adorable look. The top is available in two colours, forget-me-not and marigold and both have white cotton ric-rac trim, pleanty of gathers and adjustable straps that allow for growth. If you are off to a summer picnic or visiting family this little outfit will look the part teamed with sandals and a smile!

Both items are available from our online shop and with up to 50% off there is even more reason to smile!
